NVQs are based on national occupational standards, which describe what you’re expected to be able to do at work. They can be taken by working people, or by school or college students with a work placement or part-time job. There are no age limits or special entry requirements -
and, within reason, you don’t have to complete an NVQ in a set time period.
NVQ is a nationally recognised qualification that is assessed against National Occupational Standards. National Occupational Standards describe best practice by bringing together skills, knowledge and values. Health and Social Care NVQs are assessed in the workplace by gathering evidence of the candidate’s competence.
NVQs are assessed by qualified assessors who will observe your work and discuss with you your knowledge and understanding of why you work in particular ways.
Collecting evidence of your competence to work to a set standard can include: direct observation, oral and written questioning, observing a product or outcome of your work, written testimony and expert witness statements or by you keeping a record of your work.
All NVQs offered at Bliss College are accredited by ASET
